Francis Fong is a qualified and experienced piano, violin, dizi (chinese flute) and erhu (chinese violin / fiddle) teacher, offering lessons through Excelsis Music and Arts Academy in Parkwood, Perth WA. He is an Accredited Teaching Member of the West Australian Music Teachers’ Association.

Francis Fong received his Bachelor of Music Education (Hons) and Master of Music Education degrees from the University of Western Australia.

Francis is multi-instrumental, including both Western and Chinese instruments. He has taken up various roles as composer, actor, voice coach, choral director & music director in ten professional and school musicals, both in Australia and in Hong Kong.

In Hong Kong, Francis has taught at the internationally renowned Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts as Senior Lecturer. He also worked at the Hong Kong Education Bureau as Senior Curriculum Development Officer. He was Founder and Music Director of the Hong Kong Christian Chinese Orchestra.

In Australia, Francis directed the Ethnic Music Centre of Western Australia (later named ‘Kulcha’).

He has carried the titles of Director of Music (Ursula Frayne Catholic College), Head of Music (Thornlie Christian College) and Director of Performing Arts (Rehoboth Christian College).

Francis Fong was previously the Curriculum Officer (Music) of the Curriculum Council. He wrote the secondary school textbook ‘Ethnic Music in Australia’, published by the Australian Music Centre.

Francis established the Excelsis Music Academy and the Excelsis Angels Children’s Choir. He is founder and current President of the Chinese Christian Music Association of WA.
